Deciding how Mecha Zero Sion was going to transform was a tricky task. A the time, it was difficult to convince gameplay that changing Sion's silhouette that drastically. Now, a lot of our Mecha skins transform into COMPLETELY different looks, but have to be focused on doing them near the end of the animation (to avoid confusion). The fact that Sion had a lot of articulating parts also made it more work to get everything working together.
In hindsight, transforming into a box to be taken underground (a la Evangelion) for maintenance isn't as exciting as transforming into his train form and wrecking stuff...but that's what you during the game! :D
This series is separate from the Animation Time-Lapse process videos I make, so don't worry if you're looking for those! They just take a lot more time for me to make! :P Please look forward to it! Thanks!
