Today, two interesting scenes from The Queen's Corgi Movie.
The first one, quite funny, I think, shows that even with a really simple lighting we can convey in layout a mood to the scene. Also, the placement of the trees, bushes are important. A bit of "set dressing" was done. Also, it's a good scene to prepare the next one, more dramatic.
The second one, we go a little bit further away from the storyboard. It's an evolving process, sometimes we are stuck with the storyboard and sometimes... We can do our job and explore a tiny bit more what the scene has to offer.
The length of the scene is quite similar, doing a 3D scene longer than in 2D can be an issue. In the layout, to help to build up the tension we spent more time to prepare the trahison and less (at the end) to "introduce" the big guy. Also, we add a new action with the brick to add a bit more character to the vilain. Very very bad dog.
Overall, the cameras work is not impressive, it's temp voices, but the scenes work as a layout. The angles, cameras serve the purpose of the scenes. It's a "rough" layout before it begins magic with animation, light, music...
