The Oklahoma School for the Deaf's Aquatic Activity Center will feature a swim facility complete with swim lanes and playful splash areas as well as a zero-depth entry to the pool. It’s intended to be used for instructional as well as recreational activities. The locker rooms will double as areas of refuge from severe weather events with restrooms available to the public, providing restrooms for football game patrons. A new concessions and seating area will serve the swimming facility as well as the neighboring football field. The design of the building and pool is a result of many discussions with the school’s design team and careful considerations that promote the school’s barrier-free environment approach to education.
