This is a modern take on a Dumas story - but I just let myself be taken this way and that as the story of Ned Maddstone, young whippersnapper about town, with a glorious future ahead of him, ends up the subject of a prank which then escalates. He is incarcerated for a considerable time and family and friends know nothing about his whereabouts.
This is a wonderful vehicle to learn to about the social classed of England, with politics, revenge and more thrown in.
