BRIEF

As part of their Cityzens Giving For Recovery campaign, Melbourne City organised a fundraising tournament made up of corporate teams held on the Carlton public housing estate. They required a highlights package from the event to inspire other corporates and businesses to participate in future events.

EXECUTION

This was our first time shooting soccer, so it took a little while to get used to the flow of the game. Although there was plenty of action to capture on the day, it was important to show the community aspect of the event and speak with some of the participants about their experience. Hearing from Nyto was particularly powerful as he was brought up in public housing and felt a deep connection to the cause.

To keep costs low, this was a one-person job, so interviews were challenging, however we felt it was important to keep the costs to a minimum to ensure City in the Community could maximise their fundraising efforts. Being an outdoor event, running for several hours, lighting and being able to capture enough footage proved no problem.

FINAL THOUGHTS

Charities and community groups have a huge opportunity to tell their stories, and show their impact, through video. We love seeing our videos used in this way, and have hopes to work further with Melbourne City and other community groups going forward.
