On August 29, 2020, I was heading back down Alder St in downtown Portland from getting some b-roll during an ongoing confrontation between a pro-Trump vehicle caravan and counter-protestors. As I set my 17 pound TV camera rig down at the corner on 3rd St, I heard my security team shout about a man using bear mace - and as I raised my camera to shoot, fatal shots rang out less than six feet from me.
