Wine drinking is stereotypically correlated with refined lifestyles and cheese platters, perpetuating wine’s long-lasting reputation for being an A-list drink. Millennial wine culture, however, is developing independently of such socio-economic factors. Instead, generation Y drinking habits appear to be more closely related to those of their friends and family. Those who associate with wine drinkers or came from wine-drinking households tend to adopt higher-frequency wine drinking behaviours, regardless of income, education, or age.

Despite these market changes, very few wine products and services are currently targeted to Millennials; and the huge amount of grape and glass waste generated by industry does not appeal to the climate progressive generation.

T’wine is anchored in the notion that Millennials connect through common interests in caring for the environment, fostering community, supporting small businesses and celebrating innovation.

Made from a biopolymer derived from wine pomace—the solid remains of grapes after vinification—the T’wine refillable bottle and cask container are fully organic and bio-degradable, leaving Millennials with nothing but an enjoyable experience to remember. Meanwhile, the T’wine urban winery and app prolong this experience in both the physical and digital space.

Thanks to the use of emerging biotechnology and circular economy thinking, T’wine delivers a suite of Millennial-targeted products, and entertaining yet educational experiences making the wine industry more resilient from both an environmental and financial perspectives.
