The Freshwater Trust staff routinely employs GIS to perform accurate earth measurements, conduct spatial analysis, feature interaction (proximity, intersection, etc.), and perform remote “field” sampling and processes global positioning data (GPS). GIS software also affords us capacity for complex analysis using LiDAR and satellite data and to perform change detection, site selection modeling and hydrologic modeling.
Basin Scout is a watershed-level software program developed by The Freshwater Trust that allows for coarse, remote surveying of large landscapes and watersheds to identify sites with high ecological uplift potential. Data include topographic and hydrographic data, landowner information, estimated credit values, and aerial photography.
