The Bureau of Land Management claims there are 896 wild horses in the Sand Wash Basin, as we have shown before the BLM (based on National Academy of Science reports) blatantly lies about the number of wild horses on public lands. Now the BLM wants to round up 783 wild horses, and return a mere 50 of them to their rightfully protected lands. Of the 50 horses returned 25 mares will be treated with the controversial birth control drug PZP, which causes great damage to family structure and wild horse herd dynamics. The Sand Wash Basin herd management area is 157 thousand acres and home to Colorado’s last great wild horse herds.
The Bureau of Land Management claims the wild horses will starve and die of dehydration if they are not removed.
