May 2019 - Sea lice are infecting juvenile wild salmon in the Broughton Archipelago, Canada
One louse is enough to kill a juvenile salmon and this year up to 90% are infected.
Documents obtained through the Access to Information Act from Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) have revealed that even when a lice outbreak violates a fish farms Conditions of Licence, DFO is unable to charge or enforce.
Even when infection rates in 2018 were 15 times the allowable limit, DFO was unable to enforce the law to protect wild salmon.
If we want wild salmon to survive on this coast, salmon farms must transition onto land.
