I am Robert Garza and I am a candidate for State Representative, District 74.

Our district needs a strong and effective voice in Austin. My prior service as City Attorney, School Board Trustee, City Councilman and Mayor has given me a unique and insightful understanding of the needs of our district.

First and foremost, I believe that we need to preserve intact the basic ideals and beliefs that have built our country, including, traditional family values, the freedom to worship God, a strong work ethic, the right to a quality education, a strong military, a well-equipped law enforcement community, secure borders and quality of life activities.

Our goals for our district are to promote economic growth and development, to create new jobs, to protect private property rights, to support of the second amendment, to provide property tax relief and to bring transparency to all levels of government.

Secondly, our district has so many different and diverse needs. Each community clearly has its own specific priorities. In Del Rio, we need to accelerate the effort to expand Highway 90 into a four lane road as well as expand Highway 277 to IH 10. Del Río needs to facilitate its connection to the world in order to achieve growth.

In the coming months as the campaign progresses, we will further identify and advocate for the specific needs of each area.
