One of my favorite places to visit is the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) building staffed during the Indiana State Fair. This video shows a brief overview in regard to one of the many departments named the "Division of Historic Preseveration and Archaeology" (DHPA)
While on my walk through all of the DNR officers impressed me with their professionalism and ability to answer questions. The DNR's authority covers all waterways and state parks, along with many other support functions. One of the officers explained how the Museum historical foundation properties used to be a part of the DNR, however, the state decided to separate their responsibilities.
If you are able to visit the Indiana State Fair be sure to include the DNR building as their staff are quite impressive. Both male and female officers are present and provide excellent suggestions not to mention top notch programs available to Indiana's residents.
Part of my work involves coordinating with historical contractors off and on depending on what's required. All of the officers impressed me with their helpfulness. During the State Fair DNR officers take turns staffing the various exhibits designed to encourage families to become engaged in learning how to encourage responsible stewardship.
Overall, I'd give high marks for their service and professional answers to questions. Once we relaxed (in a few cases) conversations continued to branch out into interesting areas. Amazing!
Conservationists, hunters, fishermen, and preservationists alike can enjoy and find satisfaction in how well Indiana residents are served by DNR's staff during the Indiana State Fair. Do you enjoy the outdoors? Come. Stop by and visit awhile.
