Hands enable the scope of innovation, but at what point in the battle of right and wrong do they start to inhibit the choices of the living world around us?

As humans, hands are one of our greatest assets. They hold, mould, touch, feel and are used in so many ways to help us explore the tangible world around us. While the physical world has perpetuated the evolution of our hands, the rise of modern technologies and social media, call for alternative uses of our derivative actions. We will further explore social and cultural issues, exacerbated at the hands of human beings. Delving into the global concerns of environmental destruction and the war on women’s rights to their own bodies, we will adopt the Constructivist lens to criticise the way society engages with these issues. The video will initially have different hands all repeating the same range of motions, to represent all that we can accomplish. To then link this to our chosen social issues, the hands will turn to shadows, then become transparent. Within the outline of the hands, different news headlines discussing things like the climate crisis and abortion rights will be shown, the movement of the hands showcasing the headlines behind them. Interspersed with the hands and headlines will be footage of the positive aspects of the priorly mentioned issues. There will be scenes of nature; trees and flowers, as well as footage of women functioning in day to day life. The alternating perspectives on these issues will showcase the importance of innovation and learning. In a fragile society, eager for change we hope to highlight the small positive contributions that each and every being can create, specifically aligning with our chosen societal issues.
