Neighbor Disputes & ADR Webinar - Board Members & Homeowners Webinar Series (BMW) Nov. 10, 2021
Presentation by Samantha Brown, Esq., of Barker Martin
How To Deescalate Situations Before You Have A Full Blown Hatfields v. McCoys Situation At Your Community!
As anyone who has ever lived or worked in a community knows, emotions run high, and personalities clash all the time. Neighbors can make the best friends but the worst enemies, and boards often get sucked right into the middle of it all! In most cases the board should not be in neighbor disputes, but sometimes it’s inevitable, and sometimes the Board or the Association are a party to the dispute.
Let’s talk about ways to mitigate the crisis before needing courtroom attendance. WSCAI even has a mediation program and an inexpensive alternative to litigation — the right finesse can often repair even the most dire situations. I’ll walk you through a few of my time favorite dispute resolution tactics and give you time tested methods for deescalating situations.
