The Teaching Residents at Teachers College program, known as TR@TC, prepares highly qualified teachers to teach in New York City public schools. In the summer of 2019, Residents worked alongside high school students from 3 partner schools to engage in a Citizen Scientist project surrounding the health of NYC waterways and how to improve them through policy. The summer program’s culminating event took place in the Smith Learning Theater where Residents and students, supported by TR@TC alum and undergraduate interns from John Jay College (who are considering a career in education), showcased their findings and recommendations on the main stage for family, friends, and legislators.
