HAE SPOTLIGHT ARTIST: Fluidz by keene – Bonnie Keane

Where Art and science converge is where you will find Bonnie Keane. She creates non-objective abstract paintings on canvas using acrylic paints, mica powder pigments, inks, resin, and crushed reflective glass. She forgoes the use of brushes and instead uses acrylic paints that have been diluted so she can drip and pour them onto the canvas allowing them to flow and circulate spontaneously.
Bonnie’s inspiration for her art comes from science and Mother Earth. Her mind is constantly boggled by the way the paints mix and develop into something that I have created with her own two hands. It is really a magical time she gets to have by herself, watching the cells develop and push through other colors and create odd and wonderful things that she has never seen.
She believes one major thing all artists have in common is the fact that they are always evolving. Her art career began as an abstract acrylic artist. She had always used brushes and palette knives and other tools until one day she decided to go out in her backyard and splatter and drip paint randomly on a canvas trying to emulate her art idol, Jackson Pollock. From there it morphed to pouring the paint methodically onto the canvas and experimenting with a myriad of different pouring techniques. Mind you, this was long before Youtube and the millions of “how to pour '' videos, give techniques names today like puddles, straight pours, swipes, dutch pours, etc. Experimenting is the key factor in the evolution of an artist. She has coined the phrase "Geoflo" to describe her work, as it is a hybrid blend of a stone-like geode, mixed with a flowing river of resin.
