Ethics Dialogues #1

This is the 1st event in a series of ethics dialogues leading up to our April 19th-21st Symposium on Ethics in an Age of Smart Systems, co-organized by the Center for Digital Ethics and Policy (CDEP) at Loyola University Chicago, the AI4Society Signature Area at the University of Alberta and the Weizenbaum Institute for the Networked Society in Berlin.

The first dialogue focuses on the "Ethics of Contact Training" and is led by Rainer Rehak, a doctoral candidate in the research group "Quantification and Social Regulation" of the Weizenbaum-Institute for the Networked Society. His dissertation project deals with concepts for implementing and safeguarding democratic principles in IT systems. He studied computer science at the Humboldt-University zu Berlin, philosophy at the Free University of Berlin; temporarily also in Hong Kong and Beijing. His research interests include data privacy, IT security, government hacking, computer science, and society, as well as the implications and limitations of automation through AI systems.
