This is a scene from American Horror Story..
I must admit I underestimated this one. I usually get my script before bedtime. I saw it and said, " Ah! Studying and filming tonight will be a breeze!"
NOPE. I memorised my script (broke down sometimes as I got emotional reading and taking in the character, probably a terrible mistake), set up my "studio", and boom, no emotions! Usually, the story and my character drives the emotion but I guess my well dried up already before I even took one shot.. I don't know what happened. I thought my SSD training (Saigon School of Drama LOL!!!) will save my ass but no, nothing. When I shoot I'm always on a time limit. I start filming at 2am and latest must be at 5am. By then, the birds will start chirping. I took the risk of taking a pause and fiddle with my ukelele to try to take my mind off of the scene. After a good 10 minutes, I went back to my "acting chair" and tried filming again.. still nothing I tried different things: placing a stuff toy beside the camera to help with conversation and as a reminder of my child, I tried breathing exercises and relaxation.. still nothing! This time, I panicked because I can already hear the chickens crowing So I had to pull another trick from my sleeve and decided to go method... I personally do not want to use this technique. I don't want my character to be driven by me, Ela. And sometimes I go to a very dark place and it's so unhealthy..yikes, wouldn't recommend it. But out of desperation to feel something (and submit the tape on time lol) I resorted to it. My story, not important, but yes, this is the product. And any scenes I created from method are sacred to me.

Technically, I tried to make my room dimmer hence, the darker lighting. I thought it would help me get in the zone (rather than for FX) and perform like I was on stage. I wanted to fade out the ending right after the line as I wanted to create a brief but rather solemn ending but I had to buy an editor to be able to do that so I just stuck with the basics.
