Project Name: MAAS Powerhouse Museum Mock Project | China Export Silver
Description:
With a chosen artefact from the MAAS Powerhouse Collection, research is conducted and an interactive exhibit is created for visitors to engage and learn about the particular object. The experience is shown in the form of a visual narrative (Assessment Task 1) and then a low fidelity prototype (Assessment Task 2) of the experience showcases how intuitive the experience will be for the users. This is so students can form different perspectives of certain technologies that might seem 'straight forward' to them, but not necessarily for the end user. Students create prototypes and test them amongst each other to assess how other people may perceive things differently as the end user as opposed to the creator. My chosen object was https://bit.ly/3Bg0GH5 China Export Silver and my focus was to see if the end user knew to drag and drop icons onto a canvas and ultimately 'exporting' the file as the end product. With the help of my peers I was able to understand how hierarchy also applies to shapes, which contribute to different preconceived ideas e.g. without hierarchy in shapes (sizes) users thought that by clicking on an element, it would lead them to a new page rather than it just being a symbol that can be dragged and dropped. Many changes were made to come to this end product and I am happy with the results.

This design is part of the student learning experience in 87009 or 87445 VC Design Studio: Visualising Experience Spring 2021 in the Faculty of Design Architecture and Built Environment (DAB) University of Technology Sydney (UTS) and is not a professional design outcome. This project was developed under the guidance of studio leaders and demonstrators. As a response to a notional assessment brief, it is not directly connected to the Powerhouse Museum.
