Dr. Katy Anthes, the state Commissioner of Education, visited Minnequa Elementary School this week to get a first-hand look at the practices and priorities that have made the school what Dr. Anthes terms a "model" for the rest of the state.
After meeting with Minnequa Principal Katie Harshman and observing work in the classroom, Dr. Anthes praised the Bessemer school and its staff.
“You are an amazing, amazing group of leaders, an amazing group of educators: you don’t know how much you inspire the State of Colorado and inspire us at the Colorado Department of Education," she said.
