This is how we plant up thousands of bulbs each year. Tulips and daffodils we plant for the website photography, but we also use the same technique for planting our 'in the green' stock. This includes snowdrops, eranthis, pseudo narcissus, leucojum and bluebells.
Digging trenches is not always the best idea for the garden as it can disturb the dormant plants or previous years' bulbs. It is great for planting in fresh beds or unplanted areas. You can cover great areas relatively quickly.
