"Kansas City Legacy Bandleaders in the Time of COVID-19" A Kansas City Latin Jazz Orchestra History Project in partnership with Humanities Kansas.

The Kansas City Legacy Bandleaders in the Time of Covid-19 projects will be an oral history project that documents how Covid-19 quarantine/isolation has impacted Kansas City musical culture and industry. Legacy bandleaders are musicians who have led ensembles that have engaged multiple generations of musicians, students, audiences, and/or have strong ties to their respective art forms through family lineage. Kansas City, Kansas very own Bobby Adams is a versatile musician, singer, songwriter, and arranger who began playing drums at the age of three.

Bobby received his early education in percussion and music by world-renown drummer and famed Kansas Sumner High School Band instructor Mr. Leon A. Brady. Adams began honing his craft playing in many neighborhood bands and performing alongside his brother (pianist/organist) George at the 1st A.M.E. Church in Kansas City.

At age 17 Bobby recorded a gospel album with well-known gospel artist The Cooper Singers.

At age 21 Bobby began performing locally with a variety of club bands specifically concentrating on the World famous Eighteenth and Vine District opening for such acts as Harold Melvin and The Blue Notes, The Chi-Lites ,Ron Banks and The Dramatics, Oli Woodson lead vocalist of The Temptations, Roger Troutman and Zapp, Reabee Jackson and the list goes on.

Bobby toured the country with famed R&B and Blues band BWB performing at world-renown blues club The Grand Emporium in Kansas City, Missouri. He also performed at the Blues Estife' in Amsterdam with Blues Legend Millage Gilbert and The Down Homes Blues Band.

Bobby has led multiple ensembles and presents his band Justatasteajazz at The Blue Room monthly.
