This showreel exhibits the work I created for a module in art direction and production design on a cinematic arts course. I was tasked with emulating the work process of a current or historic film industry practitioner. I decided upon taking inspiration from Syd Mead, the concept artist/designer and visual futurist behind the likes of "Star Trek: The Motion Picture", "Blade Runner" and "Tron" as I have a keen interest in science fiction. Focusing on the role of concept artist I mirrored his workflow with the intent of producing illustrations that lay the conceptual groundwork for a hypothetical science fiction film. The main objective was to depict a world that is both utopian and dystopian with different heroes and villains against one another. In the film industry this kind of work would likely be used as reference for varying roles in the visual aspects of a film such as special and visual effects artists, costume and props.
