ENG: Because of recent developments in computer science and other technological advances we recognize the 21st century by its evolution from an industrialized society into one that runs on information technology. ‘The Age of Information’ is one of the terms coined to describe this evolution. ’15 Years of Data’, tells the story of these recent developments by using an animated speed to communicate this information. Next to the visual translation of the speed at which the data gets created, it provides the user with an interactive element which creates the possibility to explore the origin and source of the created data. Together with these 4 subcategories (Sensors and Devices, Entertainment, Enterprise, Mobile), this work gives us a concise view on the current information revolution.

NL: Door de recente ontwikkelingen in computer wetenschappen en andere technologische vooruitgang wordt de 21ste eeuw vooral gekenmerkt door een evolutie van onze geïndustrialiseerde maatschappij naar één die teert op informatie technologie. ‘The Age of Information’ is bijvoorbeeld één van de termen die gebruikt wordt om deze omwenteling een naam te geven. Het werk, ’15 years of Data’, brengt deze huidige evolutie in kaart door een geanimeerde snelheid te gebruiken om deze informatie te communiceren. Naast de visuele vertaling van de snelheid waarmee data aangemaakt wordt, is deze datavisualisatie ook voorzien van een interactief element die zijn gebruikers in staat stelt de samenstelling van de aangemaakte data te verkennen. Samen met deze 4 subcategorieën (Sensors and Devices, Entertainment, Enterprise, Mobile) schept dit werk een beknopte blik op de huidige informatie revolutie.
