Following a career in both the US Army and the US Navy, the Oro Verde made much news hauling bananas (and some speculate much more) from Equador to Miami in the 1970's. It was sunk to form an artificial reef off the west side of Grand Cayman in 1980, before being lifted and smashed against a reef during a storm in 1988.
It still makes for a superb dive, lying at approximately 15m of depth and home to many colourful creatures.
