I wanted to play with Vellum Grains and I was inspired by Junichiro Horikawa's gyroids (youtube.com/watch?v=1LFLjqf9I8w) for creating the base geometry.
For creating the gyroid I used VDBs starting from a deformed sphere. From then on it was just grains fun. Texturing, lighting and rendered was done in Blender, postproduction in After Effects.
