Salam is tanz raum's intercultural performance project, in collaboration with the Jesuit Cultural Center in Alexandria. The project brings European and Egyptian dance students together to meet and learn and create - through art and for life. We did not speak, debate, explain or discuss much. Instead, we elevated the vibrations of our bodies, souls, and minds through the power of Egyptian dance rituals, rhythm, and music. We became one, through practice and creation - the magic of simply doing things. This project changed our perceptions - for each one of us, there is a before and an after. Within 6 days we became one. This experience has changed something deep inside of all participants. Despite our differences - we are made of the same essence and a feeling of gratitude unites us.
