For some reason it is almost impossible to find the sound of Aarhus City Hall bells on any channels, so here is an occasional recording.
Aarhus City Hall bells: In vernalis temporis - as the bells play - is an ode written by Morten Børup, who was the principal at Aarhus Cathedral School, and the cantor at Aarhus Cathedral.
Morten Børup was a student at the cathedral school. As a 27-year-old farmer boy from Skanderborg meadows, he holds a doctorate in Roman law and theology from Cologne University. From 1491 to 1520 Morten Børup was principal at Aarhus Cathedral School. His coat of arms is today the school's logo.
In vernalis temporis was translated into Danish in 1895 by Fr. Moth under the title "Frydelig med jubelkor. The melody is first written down in the Finnish note collection" Piae cantiones "from 1582 but is older than from the year 1500.
