Papeles Mojados (Wet Papers). This is the 4th drum cover of a Chambao song I have covered since starting this channel. In early 2002 Chambao introduced the world to a new brand of flamenco - Flamenco Chill, propelling Maria del Mar Rodriguez Carnero's natural, fresh, distinctive vocal style onto the world stage, burning up melody lines that would destroy other singers. Chambao disbanded late 2017, however La Mari continues to perform her music as a solo artist.

Chambao song writing is relentless in its quality, and this one, written by La Mari blows me away yet again. The lyric is significant and touches on immigration, check it out if you have the time.

Papeles Mojados seems to have a different vibe, Chambao earlier music had the 'Chill' factor, which they owned for several years but the vibe here is not so much chill as it is frantic (my humble opinion). It has a distinct North African feel about it (again, my humble opinion). I read somewhere that Mari spent some time in Morocco and maybe Algeria, so that might explain the perceived shift away from the vibe of their earlier albums, but absolutely, still, fantastic music.
