Today, I had a spurt of creative energy while transfixed on a particular song by Lord Huron and well this snippet is the result of imagery circulating my brain from years of collecting on my silly iPhone. Below are further thoughts.
--------
I like to view this from the context of death's perspective, lingering all around us much as life does hanging in the delicate balance of things. But the visual of "Yawning Grave" is incredible, sung in the chorus and how it warns us of it's inevitable power to annihilate the living. The omens, rhymes, melodies, signs, and poems warning us time and time again we are indeed fools in believing we can out run it, makes me question if we're able to fully distinctly connect with ourselves in knowing when our time is up? "Oh you fools there are rules. I'm coming for you. You can run but cannot escape." And at the very ending so much of the melody emulates the ticking of a clock if you listen extremely closely. "Darkness brings evil things oh the reckoning begins..." And I can't help it but think, here we are, at a dark hour in humanity. All the moments, and events that lead us here. Anyways a bit of a morbid reflection for a Monday, but it just had a visceral affect over me. The kind where you feel like your knees are buckling, a sort of lightness in the arms, a tightening knot in the throat, a feeling or mood that moves through you like the sudden turn of a storm and once you gather enough strength to survive it, there's a sense of peace and wonder again. Quite a vicious cycle. I suppose my two cent advice in all this is, don't take tomorrow for granted.
