Shane Finan, resident artist on the programme ENTWINED. Rural. Land. Lives. Art. is posting video essays about his research on networks with VARC.

'Community' is the third video in the series 'Never Just A Tree', as part of the residency 'The Wood Wide Web' in collaboration with the Kielderhead Wildwood Project, Kielder.

In this video, Shane outlines the second of the three network concepts of his residency: Community. explores what has been referred to as the 'tragedy of the commons', when public areas were gradually privatised, and links this into how community networks are established.

This residency is part of the programme ENTWINED. Rural. Land. Lives. Art. Shane is resident artist at the Kielderhead Wildwood Project. His residency was planned to take place in April 2020 but has been postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In the interim, Shane is creating a series of concept videos about his project plans, that will include responses to the pandemic.
