The sequences in this video were filmed on 8mm during the first 6 years the school was run from a group of portable classrooms. Over that period, HTS developed a strong film & TV course. This collection is taken from student films that captured events at school and on various excursions. I'd been involved in shooting many of them and back in 1979 they were given to me for safe keeping.
The technology for digitising old films has become much more affordable and so I recently bought a home scanner. Although it's not a professional machine, I work as a freelance editor and was able to use professional software to stabilise and generally improve the quality. Despite this, the visual quality still varies due to differences in the 8mm film stocks. Finally, I chose Keith Jarrett for the soundtrack because we regularly used his music in drama classes! Enjoy.
