A bunch of Houdini experiments and fleshing out of different ideas I've had for a while. My laptop is a relic so I had to go with  small scale and lightweight setups and stuck with just playblasts.

There were a bunch of fun little challenges on this so wrote a few things in VEX - like the path deformers, twist and bulge deformers, curling lines etc, so it was a good learning experience too. Apologies for the aliasing and the alpha fringe overlaps - there was only so much my Intel integrated graphics card could handle. 
Influenced and inspired by the work of Maxime Causeret, Richard Lord and others. Huge thanks to Entagma (specially the analytical foam - elegant solution!), CGWiki's Matt (general tips and tricks - and the idea for moving a body through a sim), Jake Rice (for the wonderful polysplitting tutorial) and the HoudiniGubbins blog (gradient descents, curvature), FX Thinking blog (the magnetic fields post) for their knowledge bombs.
