A cyber-punk rollercoaster of an experimental short film with an array of colours and cuts, based on the punk rock track Gone Forever by Melbourne local band Claws & Organs. Shot on IPhone 6S using FilmMIC PRO in accordance with COVID-19 Victorian state guidelines.

Inspired by James Cameron’s Dark Angel (2000), a two-season sci-fi show based in a post-apocalyptic Seattle, as well as a multitude of 90s VHS style punk music videos by bands similar to Garbage and The Smashing Pumpkins, this smartphone experimental short film Claws and Organs explores colourful and creative cyber-punk music videos with no narrative and natural images, drawing more focus to the accompanying song, ‘Gone Forever’ by Melbourne local band Claws and Organs. It contains a range of guitar/musical instruments as visual footage, in accordance to the aural beats, rhythm and speed of the song, as well as natural footage placed behind a backdrop of colourful lighting such as clocks, rings etc. to create a more grunge feel to the ‘music video’, but not stray away into a narrative-based short experimentation film. In addition to this, this film includes a range of editing techniques achieved on Adobe Premier Pro to explore more experimental movements and colour correction through adjustment layers, video transitions, Lumetric scopes, downloading pre-existing LUT overlays, layering footage over one another and experimenting with the speed and duration of footage to work well with the accompanying audio. Through the inspiration of the punk scene of the 90s, especially local Melbourne punk bands like The Distillers and 2010s bands like Amyl and The Sniffers, Claws and Organs holds in similar attributes to music videos of said bands through their music, heavy in fried-acoustics and grunge guitars with overpowering drums and a solid lead up to the chorus of the song.
