A down and out young man is stuck in a room, watches the clouds in sky
float on. Dreaming to go with them, he must fight his way out to join them.

The story is about the protagonist deeply wanting to move forwards with his life but is stuck in a rut, and the knowledge of that is consuming him. The film is trying to convey this feeling of melancholy, a mixture of sadness and isolation but also having feelings of hope and longing. It’s about addressing the cognitive dissonance between what is reality now, and the reality character desires to live in.

Him look at the clouds floating by in the sunny blue sky, symbolising what he wants to be, free and moving forward. The imagery of broken brokens and fingers shows the protagonist feels as if he is being handicapped by himself from doing the things he wants to do. His shadows attacking him are a metaphor for what he feels like is self-sabotage.

The music was made by me last year during the lockdown, titled ‘Work In Progress’. The basis of this project was capture what most friends of mine were feeling during the time last year. It ended up showcasing the feelings of hope and themes of escapism. The drum and bass expressed everyone’s want to push forwards and the melody expressing the sadness and melancholy.The video was an attempt to put visuals on the feelings of melancholy and hope that was conveyed through the music.
