Asia Rose. The latest release absorbed most all of the month of August. What's to say. Well, I sure like writing and recording my recent work vs the backlog of mixing I usually face, for well... the past two years. Traditional rock ballad in the style of David Bowie and Pink Floyd meets Steely Dan. I've spent a good bit of time refocusing on the bass. All of the rhythm guitar I tracked on a newly hot rodded Strat and that sucker sings now! Nice to have time to replace and tune hardware. The guitar solo came in one take and I seem to have "some" of my old chops back. It's done on a vintage Les Paul gold top with spanking brand new strings. The theme of the song? The political landscape, the fires, covid, (btw Asia rose is metaphorically covid not some hot number) self discovery and immense personal growth. It's a bit dark. Everything I do seems to be. It's not intended. It's simply deep thought transposed and it's always about hope and triumph.
