Choreographer’s Statement:
When we began making this solo, Zara and I found ourselves in similar moments in time. We were both going through a big transition; Zara was preparing to graduate and start her career, and I was moving to another state to begin a new career. This fact inspired me to consider all of the unknowns and worries that go into making plans for the future and how maddening it can be. This led me to an excerpt from Jack Kerouac's On the Road, and then to this song that a dear friend composed years ago. Humor, tolerance of ambiguity, and an ability to take ourselves lightly became themes in this work. Congratulations Zara! Unleash the madness.

Artist’s Statement: 
 At this time in my life, the pressures of attaining a proven and established career and definite plans for my future prevail as I prepare for life after graduation.  According to our societal customs, us worriers are sane.  Despite our ensuing fret about our everyday tasks and expectations, and the panic which arises as we watch our incessant worrying betray the day’s precious time, we are deemed as rational, reasoned, and normal. 
Yet, why worry? The ones who are mad pose this question.  If we continue to allow the minuscule problems, and most paramount worries, to overwhelm and burden our lives, will our souls ever be truly at peace? 
The only people for me are the mad ones.
