Nanyin which means "Music of the South" is an ancient Chinese art form of the Minnan peoples of Fujian province in China's southern coast. It was officially recognized as a form of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO in 2009. Originally performed as court music in China, it followed the diaspora of overseas Chinese in Southeast Asia. Here it is performed by the Siong Leng Musical Association at Thien Hock Kheng Temple in March 2019.
