In the fall semester of 2019, the 5th-Grade scholars collaborated to create two hip hop science music videos combining original song lyrics, music tracks, video, and animation. The scholars first wrote rhyming hip hop lyrics using science vocabulary and concepts from their science curriculum: light energy, force and motion, and electricity. A small music team selected, combined, and revised the verses written by the whole class and shaped these into three complete songs. Two of the songs were performed and recorded by a small group of scholars. Finally, these two completed music tracks were combined with the edited videos and animation to create two music videos.
