Tuna El-Salihie was born in Gothenburg, Sweden. El-salihie work ranges from mediums such as artist films including classical cinema, popular music (60s-00s), performance and scriptwriting.

Tuna El-salihie uses found footage of British pop culture such comedy and music, to re-write, re-analysis and re-configure the meaning of the material, bringing out the emotional aspects that speaks to her about the footage, building on the personal narrative. Revisiting the trope that “Modern life is Rubbish” as Damon Albarn said. El-Salihie’s first film in her video trilogy “The sum of my parts”, is dealing with the frustrations of the art world through parody, humour to counter act the highly polished seriousness of contemporary art.

Exhibitions and collaborations include Resolve Collective “interference/interruption” a collaborative sound work (2020), Bad Art Gallery “Fandom” (2019), UAL “Modual” (2019) in collaboration with Somerset House, Kickstarter & Glasgow School of Arts and apart of UAL Shared campus “Hacking Global Pop Icons-Greta Thunberg” (2020). El-salihie’s curatorial practice includes: “Elbow Room” (2019, 2021) and UAL’s annual library exhibition (2018)
