Carbon Twins took a deep atomic dive into elemental carbon, and our research took us into far-flung places like buckminsterfullerenes, guillotine etiquette, the nursery rhyme Jack and Jill and beyond.

"a tiny piece of anything" is a quirky project originally conceived by Lucy as an ensemble work for 8 dancers. We started by exploring the six most abundant elements in the human body to find how our associations, understandings and the basic scientific facts about CHNOPS* created characters and creatures.

We worked in various ways throughout the COVID-19 pandemic days of the fall of 2020 into the winter of 2021, and finally had to concede defeat on a live or live-stream performance plan and the idea of an ensemble work.

We have taken the kernels of what we developed and are making 6 tiny films, to honour the work we did together through simple and fun filmmaking.

These six films are pieces of a puzzle that will never actually form a full picture. They are tiny pieces of anything, microcosms of various forms of isolation and atomization that happened to all of us since March 2020. They are a record of days spent rehearsing outside in the cold, inside through our computers, in a huge room separated by masks and 10-20 feet. These are incredibly dedicated dance artists who just kept saying yes to the new options. In this way, these little films are also a record of love.
