Wozzeck’s Daughter

The fictional heroine of Wozzeck’s Daughter is the orphaned child of Woyzeck, the humiliated protagonist of Georg Büchner’s eponymous 1825 opera. Left unfinished at the time of the German playwrights death, staged as an opera by Berg in 1925, and later adapted into film by Herzog in 1979, revivals of the tragedy have been, so far, coterminous with breakdowns in the conception of the subject of history.
Wozzeck’s Daughter is a comedy filmed on the University of Iowa campus by my ex-boyfriend and channels both my daddy issues and the universal alienation of the intellectual.
