The Gates Foundation asked Aardman to pitch an idea for an animation to be showcased at World Immunisation Week in 2018. Vaccine rates have been dropping of recent years and The Gates Foundation wanted to create a film to remind everyone that vaccines DO work and how important they are to not only protect our children, but protect the wider population by reducing the chances of a worldwide epidemic. As my first directorial job back after maternity leave, it was a subject matter I felt emotionally connected to and a great cause to support.
