The first person to stop after the car accident we had, as we left our island holiday was Elyne Mitchell. The bend in the road was at the bottom of their Towong property. Rikki knew Elyne and of course we were generously invited to stay at Towong Hill. We arranged to get my brother to drive our parent's station wagon up from Melbourne to pick us up. Elyne and especially Tom Mitchell were friends of my mother who knew Tom from Scouting and Guide troop days. The movie tells the rest of the story of our stay. Elyne was recovering from yet another skiing accident and training hard so she could get back on the slopes that winter, something of a yearly event.
I remember being grateful and overwhelmed by the landscape.
The Towong Hill house was badly damaged in the fires on the weekend.
