THEY CALL ME BABU adds a previously unheard voice – one of an Indonesian young woman, employed as a nanny (Babu) by a Dutch family, through the dangerous years of World War Two and its aftermath. Crafted from archival footage, home movies taken by Dutch colonial families, and personal diaries, the film is a mesmerising journey through space, history and emotions.
