Our film, “The Great Buildup”, is about how wasteful choices, no matter how small, builds up to an enormous amount of trash and environmental harm. Our inspiration is our own Grounds, where we see on a daily basis the choices we and our peers make when it comes to our consumption of both food and trash. With great access to these resources comes the opportunity for great waste, a phenomenon we display in our film. Our goal for this project is to educate the viewer about waste on Grounds through the visualization of every-day choices that relate to what we eat and how much trash we create. Through seeing the relation between small choices and large piles of trash, we hope the viewer can internalize the question of how much waste they personally create and what choices they can change to reduce this amount.
