Short film, shot on my FX3 with the 35mm 1.4 GM.

This very well might be my new favorite lens. The combination of sharp detail with super smooth bokeh is unreal, and I love the 35mm focal length.

I am really enjoying making these short films. It's a way for me to test new gear, but more importantly, it's so creatively satisfying to make something with such a quick turnaround. I have often been envious of other mediums and the ability of poets, painters, songwriters, still photographers etc, to make finished works of art that come from the soul, in a relatively short amount of time. Not that they don't require as much hard work, but cinema is often a long, collaborative process, and it’s hard to just make art sometimes.

Granted, this is just footage from a spring walk with my daughter and my dog, but it feels good to craft something in one day that comes from my perspective, my worldview, my soul, my town, my family. This is my poetry.
