While sea birds, forest birds and the inhabitants of our gardens are mostly doing alright, the number of farmland birds has decreased dramatically. In Europe, their number has dropped by more than 17 percent over the past thirty years. Since the 1980s it affected species like lapwings (-55%), whinchats (-88%) and grey partridges (-93%). Why are they disappearing?
