If breakdance was a cultural resistance dance of the African American community in the US, maybe this documentary shows some continuity within northern Argentina adolescence. The Boys Street is a breakdance group known through !heir presentations in the TV reality show Argentine Talent, where they made in to the finals. The band is made of teens between 12 and 18 from Palpalá, a town In the Southeast of Jujuy. With no technical skills, the crew recorded with their own camera their participation In the show, making a new portrait of his experience as the counterside of formality and tile stylization of the tv show. Los Boys tells the story of the group while capturing the everyday life of its current members in Palpalá, a town that was once recognized as “Mother of the Industry·, due to the fact that It had several industrial parks, which were later dismantled systematically during the coup and the 1990s privatizations.
Si el breakdance fue un baile de resistencia cultural de Ia comunidad afro en EE.UU., tal vez este documental muestre una continuidad con Ia adolescencia norteña argentina. The Boys Street es un grupo de breakdance reconocido a través de sus presentaciones en el reality show televisivo Talento Argentino, donde llegaron a Ia final. Sus integrantes son adolescentes de entre 12 y 18 años oriundos de Palpalá, pueblo del sudeste de la provincia de Jujuy. Sin conocimientos técnicos, el grupo registro con sus propias cámaras de video el proceso de participación en el programa, retratando con crudeza su experiencia como una contracara de Ia formalidad y Ia estetización del reality. Los Boys recupera Ia historia del grupo al mismo tiempo que captura Ia vida cotidiana de sus miembros en Ia actualidad de Palpalá, pueblo que fuera reconocido como “Madre de Ia Industria” a partir de contar con varios parques industriales, pero que fue desmantelado sistemáticamente tras el golpe de Estado y durante las privatizaciones de los ‘90.
