KUARUP MANIFESTO SHORT FILM 2012/13
Leaders of Alto Xingu promote a manifesto for indigenous rights during the official 2012 Kuraup ceremony. The sources that flow into the Xingu River are threatened by
the soy plantations located to the South of the Xingu Indigenous Reservation area. These leaders are speaking out against the contamination of their water supply
by pesticides used at nearby farms. They are also demanding the creation of a cultural corridor until the sacred and historical region,
site to the first Kuarup ceremony and traditional ear piercing ritual site.
Directed by Pedro Saldanha Werneck, in Partnership with Tapi Yawalapiti and IPEAX Foundation.

Lideranças do Alto Xingu fazem um manifesto durante o Kuraup 2012, pelos direitos indígena. As nascentes dos formadores do Rio Xingu estão ameaçadas por causa das plantações de soja ao sul do parque. Denunciam que água do Xingu está contaminada por agrotóxicos dessas fazendas. Exigem também, que se faça um corredor cultural até a região sagrada e histórica, onde foi realizado o primeiro Kuarup e ritual de furação de orelha.
Dirigido por Pedro Saldanha Werneck, em parceria com Tapi Yawalapiti e IPEAX.
